Interactive Step-by-step
Flow: Register Provider's trunk on Spinner > Load DID/CLI numbers onto Spinner > Register Spinner trunk on PBX/SBC > Initiate calls via the PBX > DID/CLI will be processed by the Spinner and sent to the VoIP Provider
1. What You’ll Need
- An active SIP Trunk from your chosen provider.
- The trunk registration details.
- DID/CLI numbers LINKED to this trunk (The DIDs must be whitelisted/linked to the trunk on the provider’s SBC side).
- SIP End-point. Examples:
- PBX (e.g. Yeastar, FreePBX, Asterisk, etc.)
- Dialer (e.g. Vicidial, GoAutoDial, etc.)
- Softphone (e.g., Microsip)
2. Step-by-Step Instructions – Configuring Spinner
- Add SIP Trunk: Go to Settings>Add Trunk
- Trunk Name: Add Trunk Name
- Enable or disable the trunk (if disabled, calls won’t be made)
- Gateway address: Add SIP Server for trunk registration (e.g. voip.othos.co.za, Reg IP, etc)
- Username: Add the trunk SIP registration username
- Password: Add the trunk SIP registration password
- Register: Disabled by default for outbound only. Activate register ONLY if managing INBOUND calls via the Spinner
- Codec: Leave it blank if Media Pass Through is active (We recommend using Media Pass Through)
- Add DID/CLI Numbers: Go to Numbers>Import Numbers
- Create a CSV File with the DID/CLI numbers linked to the loaded trunk
- The supported number formats are +27…, 0… or 27… - The system normalizes the number format.
- Load the CSV
3. Configuring SIP End Point (PBX)
- Go to the desired SIP endpoint
- Create a trunk/gateway
- Add the trunk details:
- Domain/server/IP: sip.ecn-spinner.othos.co.za
- Username: Trunk SIP Reg Username
- Password: ORIGINAL Trunk Password – The same trunk password from the Provider
- Transport: UDP or TCP
Standard Example on PBX:
4. Other Configurations on Spinner
- Media Pass through: allows audio to flow directly between endpoints, bypassing the Spinner. Switch on if you need the Call Recording feature on the Spinner (license dependent)
- Caller ID: Select the DID delivery strategy (Random, least used, etc)
- CDR: Switch on CDR storage – required for reports and statistics (license dependent)
- Recording: Depending on your license, you can activate call recording on the Spinner (required media pass through OFF)
